Eaton Rapids "Family Friendly Community". Eaton Rapids has a rich and varied history unlike most towns its size. Eaton Rapids' first claim to fame was its curative waters. Named the "Saratoga of the West," Eaton Rapids was once a popular vacation destination for those seeking the healing powers of its mineral springs and baths. People came from all over the world in search of a cure for every ailment known to man. This town has a reputation for helping its visitors and residents alike relax and enjoy their surroundings. Located at the juncture of the Grand River and Spring Brook, this island city is one of Mid-Michigan's most idyllic communities.

Located in south-central lower Michigan, between I-94 and I-96, Eaton Rapids is a commuters dream. It's proximity to Lansing, Jackson, and Battle Creek gives its residents the enjoyment of being just far enough away from the city to see the stars at night while still being close enough to be convenient. Taking a stroll down the Riverwalk provides a glimpse into the heart of the city. As the Grand River slowly winds its way through the town, the tree lined banks add to the already relaxing atmosphere. Adding to the city's charm is the downtown business district which has been restored to the originial look and feel of the 1890s. New homes are being built while the historic homes are carefully maintained for future generations to enjoy.

Eaton Rapids is growing and changing while preserving the things its residents cherish most about life in a small town. The city was voted one of the first "Family Friendly Communities" by the Michigan International Year of the Family Council. Eaton Rapids prides itself on its small town values while promoting progressive ideas for growth. Currently, the population of Eaton Rapids is 14,000 and growing. Many businesses call Eaton Rapids home, including Eaton Technologies, Magnesium Products of America, Michigan Packaging, Axon, and Mid-State Industrial. New businesses are finding not only attractive opportunities for new offices, plants or warehouses, but the perfect community for their employees to settle in. The public school system also plays a vital role in making Eaton Rapids an ideal place to raise a family.

The Eaton Rapids School district is made up of three elementary schools, one middle school, one intermediate school, and one high school. The district enrolls approximately 3,300 students and is classified as Class B or Division II in academic and athletic competitions. There is always plenty to do in Eaton Rapids. In addition to the Island Park, there are four other parks, a boat launch, five ball diamonds, two tennis courts, two golf courses, and a movie theater. The community also provides several family friendly events throughout the year, among them are: the Hometown Family Christmas Parade, the Festival of the Family, and the annual 4th of July Parade. A variety of concerts are held at the Island Park Gazebo during the summer months.

And there are ten churches in the area to choose from. In the midst of the hustle and bustle of everyday life, Eaton Rapids manages to preserve the past while planning for the future. This makes Eaton Rapids the perfect place for business, family, and simply enjoying life.
